Sail Trim Clinic

Posted - February 25, 2007

The second Sail Trim Clinic hosted by the NECSC and Brewer Yacht Haven Marina was a complete success.  With 15 people in attendance, including a group from the Norwalk, CT Sea Scouts, all listened and watched Rick Doerr intently as he described the subtleties of sail trim and its importance in both cruising and racing.

Rick did an excellent job of putting his racing experiences and knowledge of sailing in a down to earth way that all could understand.

Even though it was about 20 degrees and windy outside, the area provided by Brewer's was heated and comfortable.  A fan was provided for or use to simulate "air flow" for part of the demonstration.

Refreshments were provided for the group by the NECSC and seemed to be right on target.  Special thanks are given to Captain Howard Edson and Landfall Navigation's Marine Training Center for their assistance in making this program successful.

This group, and hopefully a few more people, will join us on May 19th for our Opening Day Fund Raiser.  Details will be on our web site soon.  Rick will review his program prior to getting out on the water to practice the techniques he described.  We look forward to a good turnout as we will have at least four 2.4mR boats in the water that day.  A suggested donation the the NECSC will be appreciated.

Make your plans and reservations for sailing early so we can be sure to accommodate all participants.  See you in May.
